About

I'm Felipa, the founder of Montpips, which comes from my own name: Felipa (nickname Pips) Monteiro (Mont).

The whole premise of my brand is selling pyjamas that you can wear all day, because let's face it, life is just better in pyjamas! Hence the term 'Dayjama' -  from bed to brunch to beach to wherever the day takes you.

As a Portuguese mom of two, having lived most recently in Dubai and now Singapore, I was interested in creating comfortable clothes in 100% cotton fabric that felt as cool as they looked.

Life at home with kids means comfort comes first, but I still want to feel good in what I wear. My Dayjamas have seen me through school drop-offs, long-haul flights, beach days and yes, giving birth (for real!).

But comfort on its own isn't enough anymore. I also want to feel good about who I'm buying from. With everything going on in the world, from excessive wastage in the fashion industry, to brands with questionable morals, I've purposefully distanced myself from shopping at some mainstream brands. I wanted to create an alternative for women like me who want to shop more intentionally.

I've chosen to make my Dayjamas in Jaipur, India, where there's a long-standing tradition of hand screen-printing on the finest natural materials. The artisans have perfected their craft over generations, and it's wonderful to wear clothing that's handmade, not mass-produced.

Here’s a detail I love: my Dayjamas have two breast pockets, so you can skip the bra and still keep your modesty. No more answering the door with just your head poking out (IYKYK!).

I feel strongly about sustainability, so I've consciously decided to produce one collection at a time, to avoid overproduction. All pieces are shipped in biodegradable polymailers, with minimal packaging, to reduce waste.

My first print is Red Paisley, or 'Bandana', a print I personally love, but also appreciate for its over 2000-year history. Originating in Persia then making its way to India and then the rest of the world, Its different iterations have made their way onto neckties, hair ties, bags, scarves — you name it!

More than just a trend, the Bandana Paisley print is a wardrobe staple.

Finally, a few personal touches made their way into the logo itself. There's a nod to my sweet French Bulldog, Gigi, always by my side along the way. There's also the "Traveller's palm", with its magical fan-shaped silhouette that I discovered in the Seychelles where I got married, and then re-discovered when I moved to Singapore. And lastly, an homage to Jaipur, in the form of its vibrant, embroidered parasols, a small tribute to where every Dayjama is made.
